Increase incontractor compliance in the past year
Contractors onboarded in initial rollout
Site access agreements now tracked centrally
Summit Materials partnered with Avetta to centralize contractor compliance and site access tracking across 700+ contractors, boosting supply chain compliance by 35% and strengthening safety culture.
After going through two acquisitions, Summit Materials underwent a transformation throughout the organization. Integrating cultures proved time-intensive, shifting focus on contractor compliance to several other tasks that came along with the merger. Internal stakeholders recognized the potential of collaborating with the Avetta program and understood that driving increased adoption could significantly improve safety metrics.
Using a phased approach, Summit Materials rolled out the Avetta platform to a new business unit, onboarding their haulers, covering 12 sites and a network of 700 contractors. They are currently in the process of introducing Avetta to their 23 terminals and additional sites that came with the acquisition. In the past year with the engagement of different business units and sites, more than 360 connections were added and strengthened their internal safety culture in the process.
With hundreds of contractors in each business unit, tracking Site Access Agreements is now easier than ever. A manual process that was done by email is now saved on the Avetta platform, with more than 70% of their site access agreements tracked. By centralizing key information, Summit Materials can save time as they no longer must manually track down documentation as well as giving visibility to any user that needs to access this information with a simple login to the platform.
Internal changes have strengthened the safety culture within Summit Materials, and the numbers can show the impact internal training has had. In the past year, the team has seen a 35% increase in compliance within their supply chain. This improved compliance should lead to stronger safety metrics, helping save the company time and money. Sites are now looking into different ways to enforce consequences, with API integrations and individual level qualification as well.
With the ability to handle prequalification globally, Summit has been able to steadily grow adoption of the Avetta platform across business units and locations. Looking forward, the team is planning to scale up their Avetta product usage, eyeing Worker Management to track worker level qualifications as the next tool they’d like to implement. Handling several aspects of supply chain risk in one centralized platform has made it easier to rapidly increase user adoption throughout the organization.
