Confined Space Entry

Confined Space Entry With Fall Prevention

This course covers the requirements for any work to be undertaken in confined space in the infrastructure industry, such as, pipelines, aqueducts, siphons, intake chambers, screen structures, access chambers, pump wet wells, tanks, reservoirs, excavations and tunnels. Recommended for Supervisors, stand-by-personnel, workers entering confined spaces as well as rescue personnel.

Elevated Work Platforms in an ESI Environment

This course covers the safe operation of any vehicle or machinery associated with Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) specifically in the power industry. This course covers requirements of Occupational Health and Safety, current codes of practice, best practice guidelines and teaches the skills required to become a competent EWP machine operator. Recommended for anyone that needs to operate an EWP, have the role of EWP safety observer, or initiate an EWP rescue. (Note – participants must hold unit standard 23229 – Use safety harness system when working at height)

Elevated Work Platforms with Safety Harness

This course covers the safe operation of any vehicle or machinery associated with EWP and covers theoretical and practical aspects of using a harness. Participants will understand the relevant guidelines, regulations and codes of practice to operate an EWP alongside control hazards when using a full body harness. Recommended for anyone who operates an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) as part of their job, must be trained in the machine type which is being operated.

Horizontal And Vertical Fall Arrest Systems

With the Horizontal and Vertical Fall Arrest Systems course you will learn to control height hazards by using working at heights harness systems. You will achieve the skills needed to install a temporary height safety system and understand the associated legislative requirements. The Fall Arrest Systems course is suitable for those planning, installing and operating fall arrest systems and supervising staff working at height.

Introduction To The Electricity Supply Industry

This workshop is designed to give a broad, entry level understanding of the electricity supply industry in New Zealand, including the relationships between the major sectors, and how they work together to generate, transport and distribute electricity to their customers. Recommended for anyone requiring an overview of the Electricity industry i.e. Contact Centre Representatives, Supervisors, Office Administrators, Tradespeople, etc.

Manual Handling

This course is designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills to recognize the causes of back injuries in the workplace and implement effective methods for prevention. Back injuries are a common concern, and understanding their causes is essential for fostering a safe and injury-free work environment. This course can be delivered with or without assessment to unit standard 17592 and is suitable for anyone in the workplace, from employees to managers, including supervisors, team leaders, health and safety representatives, and anyone engaged in repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying tasks.

NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Fault Response & Switching) Level 4

This programme is designed in compliance with the Electricity Workers Registration Board requirements for Distribution Line Mechanics (Endorsed).

NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Introductory) Level 2

This Level 2 New Zealand Certificate is to ensure that learners have sufficient knowledge and ability to work safety in the industry at entry level. This course is suitable for all entrants into the Industry. The Learner may be working in a Trade or Technical Role within the generation, distribution or transmission sectors of the ESI. This qualification will give the learners the career pathway to progress into the other roles in ESI.

NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply Line Mechanic Distribution Level 4

This Level 4 New Zealand Certificate is to ensure that workers in the electricity supply industry have sufficient knowledge, practical skills, and experience to meet the line mechanic registration requirements of the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) in the distribution sector. On successful completion of the qualification trainees will be able to work safely to industry standards by taking responsibility for their work and can work independently whilst ensuring the safety of others.

NZ Certificate in Telecommunications Level 3

This program is an entry level qualification, suitable for people entering a career as a Telecommunications technician.

NZ Certificate – Introduction To Team Leadership Level 3

This course is designed to provide theoretical learning on course and application of skills in the workplace to enable on job assessment to be completed. Content can be tailored to company requirements and delivered nationwide – contact us to discuss your needs.

Overseas Worker Certification Programme: Line Mechanic Distribution

This programme will validate a line mechanic’s overseas qualification, industry experience and current competency to be able to carry out work in New Zealand. On successful completion of the qualification candidates will be "work ready" and be able to work safely to industry standards, taking responsibility for their work and work independently whilst ensuring the safety of others. Recommended for anyone who has industry experience in another country and is seeking NZQA formal qualification upon entering the country.

Overseas Worker Certification Programme: Telecommunications Fibre Optics

This programme will validate a telecommunication technician’s overseas qualification, industry experience, and current competency to carry out work in New Zealand. On successful completion of the qualification, learners will be “work ready” and be able to work safely to industry standards, taking responsibility for their work and work independently whilst ensuring the safety of others. It is recommended for anyone who has at least 2 years’ industry experience in another country and requires NZQA formal qualification upon entering the country.

Pole Top Rescue

At the end of this course trainees will be able to describe procedures for rescue from an electrical structure, carry out rescue of a victim from an electrical structure and report a rescue from an electrical structure. Recommended for anyone that may be required to carry out a rescue from an electrical structure in the course of their work.

Safe Working At Heights In The Electricity Supply Industry

This is a nationally accredited course that covers theoretical and practical aspects of working safely at heights on Electricity Network poles and structures. The training is designed to equip workers with the knowledge and skills to safely work in any height situation and will meet the training requirements for MBIE best practice guidelines for working at heights in New Zealand. Recommended for anyone that needs to climb and work on electricity network poles or structures.

Safe Working At Heights – Safety Harness

This is a nationally accredited course that covers theoretical and practical aspects of using a harness. Providing you with the skills to correctly identify equipment, carry out pre-use checks, identify and control hazards when using a full body harness and requirements of a rescue plan. Recommended for anyone that needs to use a harness for climbing or lowering into spaces. Including for the use with an elevated work platform.
