Universal Pegasus International automated contractor training, increasing participation by 300% and achieving full compliance through a unified, real-time training system.
Business challenge
To stay competitive in large capital projects, Universal Pegasus International (UPI) needed a healthy pool of qualified and trained subcontractors. However, repetitive manual training processes consumed productive time, while paperwork piled up and drove costs higher. Monitoring subcontractors onsite was difficult, leaving gaps in safety oversight. UPI realised that its subcontractor training process required an overhaul and partnered with Avetta’s Worker Management solution.
The Avetta experience
Before Avetta, subcontractor training was manual, paper-based and inconsistent. With Worker Management, UPI automated training delivery, tracked worker progress in real time and eliminated paperwork. Training modules were unified across all centres, ensuring consistent competency. UPI also customised modules with presentations and audio-visuals, complemented by competency tests that trainees had to pass for completion. The solution was deployed among subcontractors as well as internal staff, closing knowledge gaps. An integrated training database enabled real-time tracking of training completion and simplified contractor screening.
Benefits experienced
With Worker Management, UPI saved time and resources, eliminated paperwork and simplified compliance reporting. Corporate staff training grew from 40 to 300, while subcontractor participation reached 100%. Worker Management also improved remote oversight, with smart worker cards ensuring that only qualified staff could access worksites. Together, these changes fostered a stronger safety culture across UPI’s operations.
“Avetta was a really big resource that we brought in that has really helped escalate our culture in a positive way.”
