Overseas Worker Certification Programme: Line Mechanic Distribution


Program Objectives

  • Apply safe work practices and meet health and safety industry standards in New Zealand when working as a line mechanic
  • Learn about electrical theory and practice
  • Understand electrical supply industry rules, regulations, and work practices
  • Demonstrate installation, maintenance, and inspection practices and procedures of distribution network Lines and associated equipment
  • Operate a truck loader crane and an elevated work platform
  • Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) capstones included
  • Plant operator and high-risk activity training that meet approved codes of practice
  • Network competency requirements (WTCs) are embedded in the programme
  • Apply best practice of skills
  • On completion, learner will receive a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4

Entry Criteria
  • Learners must have 2 years' experience as a Line Mechanic​ post qualification
  • Complete overseas programme application form
  • Learners are required to provide a technical CV & evidence from their past role
  • Must be employed by an electricity provider in NZ
  • Hold an EWRB Limited Licence Registration
  • 2 x 5 day off-job block courses in succession
  • Total Qualification Cost $10,990 per learner (ex GST)
