By partnering with Avetta, they transformed a complex, time-consuming process into a streamlined, supplier-friendly experience – boosting compliance, strengthening relationships and setting a new standard for operational excellence.
Challenges in compliance management
In mid-2023, BGIS APAC received 360-degree feedback from clients, business units and suppliers that highlighted opportunities for improvement within the pre-qualification process. While implementing solutions and opportunities, BGIS APAC faced several key challenges.
The Avetta experience
With a presence in several countries across the Asia-Pacific region, BGIS needed a compliance solution that could streamline pre-qualification without sacrificing their high safety standards. To do so, BGIS APAC turned to Avetta and asked for help, including creating a bespoke manual audit process.
Avetta supported the company in streamlining the overall pre-qualification process and worked with BGIS APAC to develop a custom manual audit form, making it easier for suppliers to do business with BGIS. Now, the process is less time consuming, while also ensuring overall compliance. BGIS APAC also realises more accurate information, better evaluation of suppliers and improved risk mitigation. The improved process has also led to better communication and a smoother onboarding process for suppliers.

Tailoring the pre-qualification form has paid dividends for the BGIS APAC team. By streamlining the pre-qualification process, they also improved overall compliance by 10%. Having nearly 2,500 connections on the Avetta platform, BGIS APAC now has a connection compliance rate of 73% and an overall form compliance rate of 96%.
Efficiency for BGIS and suppliers
By streamlining the pre-qualification process, BGIS APAC and the suppliers they engage have became more efficient and realised valuable time spent on compliance. Suppliers no longer waste time answering questions that aren’t relevant to their work, while BGIS’s resources don’t have to sift through unnecessary information. In total, BGIS APAC reduced the number of questions asked to suppliers by over 100, directly leading to significantly fewer issues being elevated to support teams.

high-quality suppliers who appreciate the personalised approach. With a strong focus on diversity and social supplier engagement, BGIS is also strengthening their relationship with their community, prioritising their work with minority-owned companies and actively engaging with the Indigenous community.
BGIS prioritises the safety of their people, vendors, clients and the communities in which they operate. Their goal is to drive a culture of zero injuries while also being committed to social procurement that focuses on the betterment of minority suppliers.

been streamlined, while compliance numbers have risen across the board.
BGIS’s commitment to extending compliance and risk management to a broader range of suppliers was so inspiring that they won the Operational Excellence Leadership Award from Avetta in 2024. Now that pre-qualification and compliance have been improved, BGIS has the tools required to make continual improvements to their supply chain and strengthen operations as they move into the future.
