Mapping Your Supply Chain to the GCCA Standard

White Paper
White Paper

The cement industry is responsible for a staggering 8% of the global carbon emissions. To put that into perspective: if the entire industry were a country it would rank just behind China and the US as the third-largest contributor of carbon emissions with 2.8 billion tons.

A 2018 study estimated that cement-related emissions need to be reduced by at least 16% by 2030, if the sector is to meet the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

The good news is that there are already collective attempts being made towards driving responsible leadership in sustainable concrete manufacturing and distribution. As a global advocacy platform and authority for the cement and concrete sector, the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) promotes the sustainability agenda for the sector through leadership and innovation.

This white paper walks you through:

  • The Global Cement Industry and its Sustainability Dilemma
  • The GCCA standards and why they are needed?
  • 5 Pillars of Cement Sustainability
  • How organizations can benefit from joining the GCCA membership
