FUSE2017 Highlights & Review

FUSE-2017-Recap

From April 24th through the 27th, Avetta held our second annual global user conference FUSE. This time it was on the beach at The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel in sunny Huntington Beach, Calif. FUSE2017 was the opportunity for users, future customers and some suppliers from around the world to network with other current Avetta users, learn supply chain risk management best practices, help improve the Avetta platform through many co-innovation activities, and to take away new industry knowledge to share with their own organizations, teams, and networks. FUSE2017 created an environment where attendees received direct access to answers.

In all, more than 100 Avetta users were in attendance from 59 companies worldwide including Verizon, Shell, GE, Allergan, LafargeHolcim and many more. Attendees got to meet the Avetta executive team, comprised of CEO John Herr, CFO Dave Justus, CTO Adam Their, CPO Kevin Berens and CRO Geoff Joynt. In addition, 10 Avetta team members along with 20 different clients led breakout sessions ranging from Analytics to Sustainability and a unique product design experience.

One of the most inspirational sessions was led by keynote speaker Adam Steltzner. For those unfamiliar with him, Steltzner was the team leader and chief engineer that invented, designed, and tested the “sky crane” landing system for the Mars rover “Curiosity”. Steltzer’s speech shared his experience on the project which some have called crazy, but “the right kind of crazy”. It was a moving story that made clear exactly how important each link in a chain is, including your own team, and how a single disruption could spell disaster for a $2.5 billion project.

With Avetta users mainly on stage during the event, other speakers were provided by the event sponsor ASSE where there were Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available for sessions with: Tom Cecich, President of the American Society of Safety Engineers; Rodney Grieve, speaker for BRANTA Worldwide; Trish Ennis, Senior Loss Control Consultant for Holmes Murphy & Associates and previous ASSE president; and Lesli Johnson, Senior Products Liability Risk Specialist at Chubb Ltd. During their presentations, they spoke on various topics ranging from managing contractors to creating a culture of success.

Finally, Avetta provided Networking Pavilions throughout the entire event targeting specific topics which provided an atmosphere to share the Avetta roadmap, get user feedback, and again obtain direct access to answers. Considering all of the improvements we have made over the last year around our product and services, including rethinking Analytics, launching Sustainability Evaluations, and rolling out Vetify, we take input from our users very seriously and we truly value their partnership in co-innovation!

Of course, FUSE2017 wasn’t completely product and networking-focused; Avetta made time to treat our users and partners right with a relaxing day of golf at The Ranch in Laguna Beach. Afterward, we hosted a happy hour before holding an awards ceremony to honor our valued partners. Here is the complete list of honorees and their awards:

We closed out the event with extra training, covering topics such as enforcement, supplier types, reporting, and more. We wanted to make sure that attendees received as much value as possible before they returned home to share their new knowledge and skills. The theme of this year’s event was: Direct Access to Answers; and attendees agreed this is exactly the forum that FUSE provided. We hope to see everyone again next year, and we can’t wait to show you how much your feedback and support has helped us to improve our solutions and deliver more value for your organizations.
